We respect your right to control your personal data. This page explains how to request account deletion, what data will be removed, what may be retained, and the timeline for the process.

Please Note: Account deletion is permanent. Once the grace period has passed and your data is deleted, it cannot be recovered. Please make sure to export any inspection reports or data you wish to keep before requesting deletion.

How to Request Account Deletion

You can request account deletion using either of the following methods:

Option 1: In-App Deletion

  1. Open the Roost Inspect app and log in to your account
  2. Navigate to Settings (tap the gear or profile icon)
  3. Scroll down and tap "Delete Account"
  4. Read the information about what will be deleted
  5. Confirm your identity (you may be asked to re-enter your password)
  6. Tap "Confirm Deletion" to submit your request

Option 2: Email Request

  1. Send an email to contact@my-roost.com from the email address associated with your Roost Inspect account
  2. Use the subject line: "Account Deletion Request"
  3. Include your full name and registered email address in the body of the email
  4. We will verify your identity and process the request

What Gets Deleted

When your account deletion is processed, the following data will be permanently removed:

2 Inspection Records All inspections you have created, including metadata and status
3 Photos and Videos All images and videos captured or uploaded during inspections
4 Annotations and Notes All text comments, annotations, and observations on inspection items
5 Lease Documents Uploaded lease files and their parsed results
6 Generated Reports All PDF inspection reports generated through the Service
7 Credits and Purchase History Remaining credits and transaction records within our system
8 Authentication Data Login credentials, session tokens, and authentication records

What May Be Retained

In limited circumstances, certain data may be retained after account deletion:

  • Approved Inspection Records: Inspection records that have been jointly approved or signed off by multiple parties (such as a tenant and landlord) may be retained, as they form part of a shared legal record. Your personal identifying information will be removed or anonymised where possible.
  • Legal and Compliance: Data required to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, or respond to lawful government requests may be retained for the period required by applicable law.
  • Aggregated and Anonymised Data: We may retain aggregated, de-identified statistical data that cannot be used to identify you.

Deletion Timeline

Phase Timeframe Details
Grace Period 7 days After submitting a deletion request, you have 7 days to cancel and recover your account. During this period, your account is deactivated but data is preserved.
Processing Up to 30 days After the grace period ends, we begin the permanent deletion process. Your data is queued for removal from all systems.
Complete Deletion Up to 90 days All personal data is permanently removed from our active systems and backups within 90 days of the original deletion request.

7-Day Grace Period

Changed Your Mind? You have 7 days after submitting a deletion request to cancel it and restore your account.

To cancel a pending deletion request:

  • In-App: Log in to your account during the grace period. You will see a prompt to cancel the deletion request.
  • Email: Send an email to contact@my-roost.com from your registered email address with the subject line "Cancel Deletion Request".

After the 7-day grace period, the deletion process proceeds automatically and cannot be reversed.

Before You Delete Your Account

We recommend completing the following steps before requesting deletion:

  • Export Reports: Generate and download PDF reports for any inspections you wish to keep a record of.
  • Save Photos: Download any inspection photos or videos to your device.
  • Notify Collaborators: If you are part of multi-party inspections, inform the other parties before deleting your account.
  • Cancel Subscriptions: If you have an active subscription, cancel it through Google Play or the Apple App Store to avoid further charges.
  • Use Remaining Credits: Any unused credits will be lost upon account deletion.
